1. Job Description Regional Exploration Geologist 

B2Gold Corp currently looking for a geologist to work with our exploration teams in West Africa. This position reports to the Exploration Manager, West Africa, based in the Vancouver office.

Key responsibilities are to:
  • Assist and mentor local exploration teams in the collection and interpretation of geological, geochemical and geophysical data;
  • Produce high quality geological maps, conceptual models and drill hole targeting proposals;
  • Evaluate exploration opportunities for B2Gold's existing assets in West Africa;
  • Train and supervise junior geologists, field technicians and contractors, as required;
  • Complete geological reports and presentations to management, as required; and
  • International and domestic travel will be required.
 Required Qualifications
  •  Degree in Geology;
  • Professional Certification (P. Geo.);
  • 8-10 years of relevant geological experience, preferably in the mining industry, including significant mapping, drill core logging and exploration target definition;
  • Knowledge of structural geology and regolith mapping/exploration in sub-tropical terranes would be beneficial;
  • Prior experience in orogenic gold deposits;
  • Strong history of meeting targets and deadlines;
  • Ability to work within a variety of cultures and settings;
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities with all levels of internal employees and external professionals and stakeholders;
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision, manage multitasking and multiple demands;
  • Knowledge and experience working with Microsoft software (Word, Outlook, Excel, Access) and MapInfo, or similar GIS platform. 
  • Strong English written, verbal and presentation skills are required, proficiency in French would be beneficial.
Location
Vancouver based, with a significant focus on fieldwork in West Africa.

2. Job Description Safety Superintendent

Reporting to the Otjikoto Gold Mine Managing Director, the Safety Superintendent takes the lead role in ensuring B2Gold Namibia is a responsible mining company in line with the principles set out in its Occupational Health and Safety Policies, Standards and commitments to ensure safe working environment and reduced safety risk for its workers, contractors and visitors following the principles of industry best practice and applicable regulatory and internal work safety compliance/conformance.

Main duties will be to lead the Safety Department to effectively enforce B2Gold Namibia’s safety policies, standards, procedures, guidelines and commitments/requirements; Namibian local and national legislation, laws and decrees, permit conditions, and other rules and regulations; and relevant international and industry standards and guidelines.  Also establish strong and continuing linkages among various stakeholders and government regulatory bodies and to keep abreast of new and emerging safety policies, directives, rules and regulations.  The successful candidate will be a self-directed professional who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where there is frequent change.

Main Responsibilities
HSE Management System Implementation
  • Assisting the Assistant General Manager, Managing Director and Safety and Security Manager with the development and implementation of the HSE Management System. 
  • Improving the efficiency of safety systems, policies, procedures and facilitating the development and implementation of new safety systems.
  • Develop, implement and promote safety and safety training systems, policies, procedures, etc.
  • Lead and support change to achieve a positive safety culture, OHS objectives and implementation of organizational strategy at the site.
  • Develop and implement strategies to prevent and minimize workplace injury, disease and ill health.
  • Identify site safety needs and appropriate solutions.
  • Support and coach departmental managers and site-based safety staff, particularly to mentor and develop managing capability of in-country Safety Superintendent.
  • Engage with management teams to ensure that safety roles, responsibilities and expectations are understood by all.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and company safety requirements of the Otjikoto Gold Mine.
  • Ensure all safety control/mitigating measures and necessary facilities/structures/devices are in place and functioning properly.
  • Review/Coordinate and implement safety operational procedures, training programs and information campaign materials/programs within the company and regulatory policy/requirements/standards.
  • Supervision/Preparation/Submission of all annual, semi-annual, quarterly and other related safety reports (e.g., investigative) and programs required by regulatory agencies and by the Company.
  • Ensure payment of monthly expenditures, preparation and review of department’s budget, cash calls/expenses and monthly operations report.
Departmental Management
  • Ensure safety inspections are conducted, results are analyzed and actions are completed.
  • Prepare internal and external safety reports as required
  • Contribute to a climate of mutual respect, team spirit and team identity.

Required Qualification
  • Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or relevant field, preferred; engineering license highly desirable;

  • Experience in all aspects of safety operations (e.g., HSE management systems, operational controls, monitoring and reporting, accident/incident investigation, corrective action, data management, etc.), required;
  • Experience managing diverse teams, required;
  • Strong knowledge, expertise and understanding of the application and implementation of HSE Management Systems (e.g., ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001) and IFC Performance Standards, required;
  • International working experience, required; working experience in Africa highly desirable;
  • Demonstrated ability to scale and apply strategies to local environments and different cultures;
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities with all levels of internal employees and external stakeholders;
