Sabodala Gold Mine In Senegal ( Video )

Sabodala gold mine is a large-scale gold mining in the region of Senegal. Gold mining production in Sabodala began around March 2009, and the processing plant was completed in the second quarter in 2012 which makes the production of two million tons of capacity to be doubled to four million tonnes per year. Sabodala gold mine in Senegal is owned and operated by Sabodala Gold Operations (SGO)  which is a subsidiary of Teranga Gold Corporation based in Toronto, Canada with a ownership of 90% and the remaining 10% owned by the Government of the Republic of Senegal.

Sabodala gold mine located at the West African Birimian geological belt with an area of approximately 404 miles (650 km) to the east of the region of Dakar, which is the capital of Senegal. Four gold deposits at Sabodala mining, namely Sabodala deposits, Niakafiri gold deposits, Gora gold deposit and the latter deposits Sutuba adjacent to Sabodala deposits which is part of the Sabodala mining production, which lies in the area of mining concessions covering approximately 7.8 square miles (20.2 square kilometers).

Mineral reserves in gold mining Sabodala proven and probable around 37.12t with graded at 1.42g/t of gold for about 1.7 million ounces (moz), which is part of the gold deposits property Birmian paleoproterozoic metallogenic at Sabodala and are believed to contain the largest gold deposits in the world.

Mining Operation And Gold processing in Sabodala Mine Senegal

Gold mining in the Sabodala constitue an open pit mine operating system, by using mining method Conventional shovel  which includes some PC3000 shovel, PC2000 shovel dan WA900 wheel loader. For the transport rock material from the shovel to the area of the gold processing plant using a haul truck fleet that has a fleet of about 129 pieces.

For mineral processing, Sabodala mining use the  gold processing system using Carbon In Leach (CIL) which through of some processing prior to the washing process or the dissolution of gold. The first process through a process of destruction of rock using a two-stage crushing process, to crushing the rock minerals using a primary jaw, and then use secondary cone crushing system. Then the next stage by stage SAG (Semi Autogenous Grinding mill ) to make the material into a slurry form. From the SAG process material is transferred into the tank Cyanide, material in the tank will undergo washing process with use cyanide and several other chemicals. Gold will then be dissolved in the catchment tank as a result of the cyanide leaching process. Then Active carbon is added to absorb metal content. After elution stage and the stage of the electrolysis process, later stage makes Bar Dore through stage smelting process.
