Round Mountain mines is the mining operations of Kinross and located in Nye County, Nevada, one of the best mining jurisdictions in the world. Round Mountain uses conventional open-pit mining methods and processes ore by mill and heap leach.

In January 2016, Kinross acquired the 50% of Round Mountain it did not already own from Barrick Gold, consolidating ownership of one of Kinross’ best run and established mines. The Company continues to advance promising initiatives to optimize the operation and potentially extend estimated mine life.

The operation is beginning to realize the benefits of an ongoing long-term continuous improvement project focused on enhancing heap leach performance and improvements to recovery.

Job Description Experienced Surveyor In Kinross Round Mountain, Nevada

The incumbent is capable of running a field project independent of the Chief Mine Surveyor.  This person is capable of filling in for the Chief Mine Surveyor for short periods while continuously aligning daily functions to reflect Kinross’ values.

Job Responsibilities
- Work safely around the mine. Identify potential safety hazards and work with management to correct them.
- All surveying tasks covered in Survey Technician II.
- Checking and maintaining the survey equipment.
- Setting up and supervising a surveying project.
- Training Survey Technician II and III.
- Developing and maintaining the procedures and disciplines necessary to perform the mine surveying tasks.
- Capable of tagging out elevationally correct points in Autocad and Eaglepoint, and then transfer them to      TGoffice.
- Capable of uploading and downloading data collectors using TGoffice.
- Capable of transferring data from TGoffice to Eaglepoint for plot form data.
- Capable of doing all necessary hand calculations required for all mine survey work.
- Capable of uploading ore control and drill patterns in MMS including: 
  • Triangulations 
  • Grades
  • Volumes
  • Inverse
  • Slope prism surveys
  • Slope staking.
- Capable of  utilizing TSC functions at an intermediate level.  These functions include but are not limited to the following:
  • Create and calibrate a new job
  • Point measurement methods- topo point, rapid point, continuous points, and continuous offsets. Initializing, setting up, and supervising a survey project.
  • Data transfer between TSC1 and the computer
  • Key in coordinates
- Management of Survey personnel assigned to project.
- Capable of filling in for Chief Mine Surveyor when needed.
- Helps develop other department personnel to perform duties listed above.

Education And Experience

- Possess good communication and interpersonal skills.
- General understanding of mining operations, as well as limited understanding of milling and maintenance operations.
- Working knowledge and skill with P.C. utilizing word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software.
- Strong verbal, written, analytical and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.
- Ability to work independently and also as a member of the management team.
- Demonstrates strong administrative, organizational and technical writing skills
- Must be 18 years old and presently authorized to work in the United States on a full time basis.
- Requires valid driver’s license.
