Gabon is an important mining country in Africa. Mining has been the spine of the country's economy for many years. In the past, the main mineral export country was oil, but gold discoveries are being made to change and add the country's economy
The country realized its potential of gold and other minerals to produce in the early 2000s and the Société Equatoriale des Mines (SEM), or simply to accelerate Gabon Mining exploration and mining of these minerals was one in 2011 formed by presidential decree. Since then the company has been working on four major gold projects was namely Mavenza Gold Project located in Moyen-Ogooué, the Camp 6 gold project in the Ogooué-Ivindo Province, the Kolissen gold project in the Moyen-Ogooué Province; and Lombo Bouenguidi Gold Project in Ogooué- Lolo Province.
These are the major gold project in the country, since they achieved independence from the French in the early 1960s. Several multinational gold mining companies have also to Ream and develop gold resources registered in the country.
Although not a commercial gold mining has been done in the country until recently, Gabon has a Far history of gold recovery. Gold mining in the country dates back to pre-colonial period, used alluvial gold in the local communities along the rivers and streams Mine. Ngoutou Gold Project
This is an important gold project operated by Goldstone Resources Ltd. The project covers an area of approximately 515km2. The Goldstone Resources Limited was given permission to Ream and gold resources for the project in 2011. The project consists of robust gold in soil anomaly along a 15 km Far route in Archean greenstone belts develop made. The soil anomaly was first discovered in 2005, as a collaborative survey French, Gabonese and South African geological investigations were carried out. Oyem Gold Project

Magnima - Bakoudou Project
This is the most important gold mine in Gabon. It is located in the Southeast Gabon. Gold production at the mine began 20,500 ounces of gold in 2012. The project is estimated contained approximately 805,000 ounces of gold. Still, further studies will be carried out around the mine in Etéké district, and have great potential shown for more gold resources.
Camp 6 Gold Project
This is an important gold project to the Government of Gabon. The project is operated by the government through SEM, a government parastatal owned and. SEM has performed with much success extensive exploration on the greenfield operations.
The project has many gold mineralization further studies are needed, however, yet to start for the mining industry. This is an important message to the government as a further investment in this sector seems to bear fruit for the country.
